The new facility opened within the Victoria Group member company Sojaprotein

Within Victoria Group, a new facility for the Sojaprotein factory in Becej was officially opened today. The new facility has a capacity of 70,000 tons, thus providing a total annual processing capacity of 250,000 tons of soybean. The value of the investment, for the production of traditional soybean protein concentrates, is 30 million euros, and its construction makes this plant a unique industrial complex in Europe, with integrated stages of processing soybean. The products of the newly opened plant will have the widest application not only in the food industry, but also in the pharmaceutical industry, given its high percentage of protein.
The formal commissioning of the new plant, which has also marked the ten-year anniversary of the successful privatization of Sojaprotein, was attended, in addition to the Victoria Group management, by the President of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, Bojan Pajtic, The Acting Director of the Office of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Serbia, Ian Brown, and a number of representatives of the diplomatic establishment and partners from regional agribusiness.
"Let's just mention the fact that 70 million euro-worth of exports are to be released from this factory, which will greatly improve the trade balance of the country and therefore our position on the international economic scene," said Bojan Pajtic, President of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina.
Assembled guests were welcomed by General Manager of Victoria Group, Zoran Mitrovic, who emphasized that this is one of the largest investments in Serbia in the current year. "The opening of the new facility is part of our company's investment plan for the period 2012-2013, totalling over 100 million euros. With continual investments in quality and in its manufacturing processes, Victoria Group works to augment and extend its leading position in the agricultural industry in the region and in Europe," said Zoran Mitrovic.
The new plant was opened with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting by the President.
Mr. Pajtic declared that through the opening of this factory, Victoria Group had once again given an example of how a local company, working in partnership with financial institutions such as the EBRD, can have a product with which it can compete with large international companies and be able to place it in the EU, one of the most demanding markets. “Thanks to companies that invest in production, we will contribute to the development of the province and of the entire country”, said Pajtić.
